F. George Buell

President

George Buell has more than thirty years of experience in the fire protection industry. George started with NFP in 1993 as a project manager. In 1995, he was promoted to Vice President and in 2005, he became President. George has led the NFP team on some of the most complex fire protection projects in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions, including the renovation of all five wedges of the Pentagon. George holds a BS in Civil Engineering and he is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). George is also NICET Certified Level III in Automatic Sprinkler System Layout.

James F. Trimble

Senior Vice President

Jim Trimble has almost thirty years of experience in the fire protection industry. He brings a wealth of international and diverse experience to the company, having worked in Europe and Asia before joining NFP in 1999. Jim started with NFP as a Project Manager. Following a very positive career path, he went quickly up through the ranks, being named Vice President in 2005 and promoted to Senior Vice President in 2009. Prior to joining NFP, Jim had worked on many prestigious projects such as The Bank of England (London), The Olympic Hotel (Barcelona), Huy Nuclear Power Station (Belgium), and the Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Malaysia) before coming to the USA. With NFP, Jim has worked on projects such as the Capitol Visitor Center, Gaylord National Harbor, and the Kennedy Center. He now oversees Mid–Atlantic Operations for NFP and is a member of the Washington Building Congress. Jim graduated from the College of Technology in Dublin, Ireland.

Darryl Jewell

Vice President – Florida Division

Darryl Jewell has over 25 years in the construction industry, with 7 years in mechanical contracting, 4 years in construction management, and 16 years in fire protection. He started his career as a HVAC technician in 1985, and then moved on to work as a mechanical field engineer for a large construction management company. Darryl came to NFP in 1995 as a Project Manager. He relocated to Florida to manage the Florida Division and was promoted to Vice President in 2009. Darryl has an AA degree in Construction Management from Montgomery College and a BS in Management from the University of Maryland. He has a NICET Level IV certification in Automatic Sprinkler System Layout and a Level II in Inspections and Testing. Darryl has fire protection licenses in 5 states (GA, TN, TX, LA, and SC) for NFP and still has individual active status in 3 states (MD, VA, and NJ).

Brent Luers

Vice President – Sales

Brent Luers graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park. After a couple years in the Chicago market, Brent joined NFP in 1999 as an Estimator. In 2000, Brent was promoted to Project Manager and oversaw the NIH Clinical Research Center project. In 2005, he was promoted to Chief Estimator where he oversaw estimating and sales for the Mid-Atlantic region. Brent was promoted to Vice President of Sales in 2009. Brent has passed the EIT exam and is a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and the Washington Building Congress.

Edward W. Schneider

Vice President – Mid-Atlantic Tenant Division

Ed Schneider has thirty years of experience in the fire protection industry. He started with NFP in 2001 as a project foreman. Ed then served as Tenant Division Superintendent and became Tenant Division Manager in 2004. He was promoted to Vice President – Mid-Atlantic Tenant Division in 2010.

As Vice President – Mid-Atlantic Tenant Division, Ed is responsible for the management of more than $4 million of fire protection service, repair, retrofit, and new installation work annually. He is a graduate of the US Department of Labor 4-year Sprinkler Apprenticeship School and has been a member of U.A. Local 669 since 1981. Ed is a member of the Washington Building Congress.

Shane Leatherman

Construction Executive

Shane Leatherman has over 14 years experience in the fire protection industry. Shane started with a small company in 1997 where he performed the design of fire sprinkler systems. In October 2002, he started with National Fire Protection as an Engineering Technician. Shane was promoted to Project Engineer in 2005, Project Manager in 2006, and then became Construction Executive in 2009. Over his tenure with National Fire Protection, he has overseen the installation and design of numerous complex large projects including the Pentagon and the Presidential Helicopter Hangar. Shane has an Associates Degree in Pre-Engineering from Hagerstown Community College and holds a NICET Level IV certification in Automatic Sprinkler System Layout and a NICET Level I in Special Hazards Suppression Systems.

NFP was the recipient of a 2004 WBC Craftsmanship Award in Recognition of its Outstanding Work on the ATF National Laboratory – Fire Research Center project.
Under your leadership this project has exceeded all anticipated performance measures and contributed immeasurably to maintaining the overall timeline for Research Development, Testing, and Evaluation.

National Fire Protection received the 2003 Certificate of Recognition for outstanding dedication and contribution to the Post Sept 11, 2001, Pentagon Phoenix Project.
