History

Formed in the year 1987, the company started from a relationship between Jay Berkowitz and Wayne Day, who was looking for a new fire protection contractor to partner with in the Mid-Atlantic region. With the first project that resulted from that relationship, National Fire Protection, LLC, came into existence. Today, Jay Berkowitz and Wayne Day have left a legacy of excellent quality work and first-rate customer service through steady and disciplined growth that has built NFP into a reputable company that is one of the largest and most respected fire protection systems contractors in the United States.

F. George Buell succeeded Mr. Berkowitz as President in 2005 after twenty-five years in the fire protection industry and a twelve year career at NFP, including ten years as the Vice President. Following closely with Jay’s disciplined approach, and along with the leadership team that has 150 years of collective experience in the construction and fire protection industries, which includes an impressive 75 combined years at NFP, George has built NFP into one of the largest privately held fire protection systems contracting companies in the United States. George has overseen the company’s sustained growth and success throughout the Southeastern United States as NFP opened its branch office in Florida in 2007.
