Presidential Helicopter Program Support Facility

Patuxent River Naval Air Station, MD

This project was a design-build contract for a new helicopter maintenance facility to house the Marine Corps’ new Marine One Helicopter Squadron and support staff. One of the largest projects in Patuxent River NAS history, the fire protection scope of work for the secure 202,000 square foot facility encompassed a wide variety of systems. Included in the installation were a fire protection standpipe system, wet-pipe sprinkler systems, preaction sprinkler systems, an open nozzle aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) system, five AFFF trench nozzle systems, four diesel fire pumps, two AFFF foam pumps, and two 250,000 gallon water storage tanks to supply the fire protection systems.

NFP’s scope of work also included installation of a fire protection standpipe system, wet pipe sprinkler system, and fire pump system in the fourteen story air traffic control tower.
